Food is getting more expensive. SNAP benefits are being cut. It’s harder for kids to get meals covered at school. Food has always been a passion for my husband and me, but making sure people have food, without feeling less than, is something deeply personal to me.

I (Gabby) grew up on Catalina Island, off the coast of Southern California. My mom and I lived in Section 8 housing, and were on food stamps for a bit. We used our church’s food pantry regularly, our holiday meals were provided by the church or the city, and most of my clothes came from the thrift store (which, let’s be honest, is pretty cool now). My breakfasts and lunches at school were free.

We didn’t have much, but our community took care of us. Even though I knew we didn’t have a lot, I felt supported. That’s the power of community.  That’s why I’m so grateful Paducah has organizations like Paducah Cooperative Ministry, who help people in our community with food, housing, and so much more.
So, this Friday, October 31st and Saturday, November 1st, we’re hosting a food drive at Branch Out:  Desserts for Donations
Bring in any donation item and you’ll get a chance to draw a prize!

Prizes include:
 - Coupons for your next purchase with us.
 - Free baked goods, like cookies, cupcakes, donuts, and more.
 - Free Thanksgiving pies.
 - Grand Prize is a $70 baked goods tray!

All donations will go to Paducah Cooperative Ministry, who are working hard to support people right here in our community.
