After Tova Sullivan's husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn't dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors--until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
Ever the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova's son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old invertebrate body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it's too late.
Shelby Van Pelt's debut novel is a gentle reminder that sometimes taking a hard look at the past can help uncover a future that once felt impossible.

FAQs
How does book club work?
➡️Every month the group reads a chosen book, then we meet to chat, catch up, and discuss our thoughts on that book.
How do I join book club?
➡️There is no official "joining" process. You just show up to a meeting and we will be happy to welcome you. You're free to come to as many meetings as you like. You don't even have to read the book!
How much does it cost?
➡️Nothing! The only the costs associated are with obtaining your copy of the book and your own expenses at our venue (i.e. your own drinks/meals, etc.)
When are the meetings?
➡️Our meeting dates have fluctuated, but they are almost always on a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 6pm-7pm at Loose Brick Coffee -- sometimes a group of us will get together to share a "pregame" dinner beforehand.
