We will dive into the fictional worlds of Alice Jolly and Sally Bayley, whose protagonists pursue their dreams under the iron curtain of gender inequality and political violence.Jolly’s novel, The Matchbox Girl, chronicles a young girl’s quest for knowledge in 1938 Vienna on the brink of Nazi Occupation while Sally Bayley’s fable, A Worm in the Bud, follows a Victorian child’s search for identity against the backdrop of the British Empire.Please note that spaces are limited.
