- **Event Description**: Dear Nature Volunteers,

The Trap Grounds is a small pocket of the countryside in the middle of urban north Oxford hard by the canal. It's managed by an enthusiastic volunteer group (The Friends of The Trap Grounds) and includes a range of habitats: woodland, ponds, reed-beds, and areas of meadow and marsh. It's a great example of a state of the art urban wildlife site with an ideal combination of complementary micro-habitats. 

The job for today is to cut and rake a section of the head high reed bed on the canal side of the site. Rotational cutting keeps the bed in good order and provokes vigorous regrowth. If there's been rain then access will be wet, so wellingtons advised!

No previous experience is necessary.

Booking is not necessary.

We're short of task leaders at the moment and we can't carry on without them. 

Some of our tasks are much easier to lead than others, so if you're a regular volunteer please consider stepping up to do a bit of leading. Any of the task leaders will be happy to let you shadow them until you're confident you know the ropes.  If you are interested, please get in touch - we need more leaders.
