The events will showcase a range of innovative local historical projects run by, or in partnership with, community historians. Come and learn about the latest new research being conducted on Oxfordshire's diverse histories, as well as gaining new skills that could help you shape your own project ideas.On 21 November, join us for a workshop providing the opportunity to learn about how to conduct oral history interviews and to plan your own research project. We will cover how to navigate planning, research ethics and your interviewing approach, in a session that is open to both beginners and more experienced researchers alike. The session will be led by two Oxford academics who have extensive experience in researching sensitive historical themes using oral history research methods:Dr Sally Frampton has been working with a range of community mental health organisations (including Restore, Oxfordshire Recovery College, and My Life, My Choice) to develop a long view of the changing nature of mental health treatment across the county. Her team has developed a number of free resources based on their research, including an oral history archive and teaching resources for schools, which you can find online via the Oxford Health Histories website.Dr Suzan Meryem Kalayci thinks and writes about silence in history, with a particular focus on the events of the Armenian Genocide, for which she has won several awards. She explores the notions of memory and affect within her work on oral and cultural history.The event is free and everyone is welcome, but please note that the number of spaces available is limited, so do book in advance.
