The Carice Singers, directed by George Parris, return to the Oxford Lieder Festival with a programme of ethereally expressive music which views death as only the start of our journey into paradise. Following Purcell's Funeral Sentences and Gesualdo's Tenebrae Responsories for Holy Saturday, Grieg's final compostion, Fire Salmer, will be performed in Danish/Norwegian. The concert ends with a glimpse of paradise in a work by Estonian composer Galina Grigorjeva.
