We are looking for some fantastic volunteers to come and help us plant the trees and hedges for the new Naturescape, which is starting to come to life in Florence Park this year! Naturescape is a new project, which is transforming the old mini golf course into a interactive nature space for the whole community - www.naturescapeoxford.co.uk
In line with the government guidance under lockdown, we are asking for volunteers to use their hour of daily exercise to help us plant the trees and hedges needed for the new Naturescape project. We are looking for pairs of people from the same bubbles/family pairs to sign up for a one hour time slot (please select your time when booking) to help us get this stage of planting complete. These workshop style sessions will Kate and Laura from Oxford Garden Partners in line with social distancing regulations. You will get involved with aspects of planting, such as collecting the correct number of each hedge species for each arc of hedge, laying them out prior to planting, digging holes in pre-prepared trench, planting with bonemeal, firming in. Watering in and then mulching whole arc of hedge!
Each participant will be given information/certificate describing the species used and their wildlife/habitat value; the planting method and the maintenance required.
We are asking all volunteers who are able to bring their own gloves and a garden spade. If you are unable to do this, please do email us at the time of booking and let us know.
Due to Covid-19 regulations, we only have some limited spaces available to volunteers - so sign up soon to get involved!
Guidance for the event:
- One ticket is for one pair of volunteers from the same household to attend (you do not need to book individual tickets) a one hour slot. Please make sure you choose the right time slot when booking - we will not be able to be flexible with time change on the day. Maximum 2 attendees per booking.- This workshop is suitable for adults and young people over 12 years old. Anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult.
- This workshop is taking place outdoors and on a site which may be very muddy! Please do come along in suitable gardening / outdoor clothes and footwear.
- All participants not from the same household or bubble will need to maintain social distancing from other participants/workshop leaders. Hand sanitiser will be available for use on site. Please do not attend if you are experiencing of have recently experienced any symptoms associated with Covid-19, or if you have been in contact with anyone who has.
- Should the current regulations around volunteering or exercise change change, we may need to cancel or postpone the workshop. We may also need to cancel in the event of extreme weather.
