He holds a degree from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He has been a professional historian since 1973 and has written many books, including The City of London (1994-2001), a widely acclaimed four-volume history, and WG’s Birthday Party, an account of the Gentleman v. Players match at Lord’s in July 1898. He is the author of Austerity Britain, 1945-51; Family Britain, 1951-57; Modernity Britain 1957-1962; On the Cusp; Days of '62; and A Northern Wind: Britain 1962 - 65, all volumes in a series covering the history of post-war Britain (1945-79) under the collective title ‘Tales of a New Jerusalem’.David is an honorary professor at Kingston University.Triona AdamsA long-time contributor to the Oxford Literary Festival, Triona has, for the last 5 years, been Director of its Crime Fiction Programme.
