Saturday, April 18, 2026
9 a.m. - Noon
Oviedo City Hall - 400 Alexandria Blvd., Oviedo, FL 32765
To celebrate Arbor Day, the City of Oviedo will be giving away 600 trees to residents! We will be giving out:
Southern Magnolia
Riverbirch
American Elm
Crepe Myrtle
White
Pink
Lavender
Trees will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Join us for a family-friendly morning celebrating Arbor Day while picking up two trees for your home. A Budget Tree will have a drawing to give away three larger trees! Bring the kids for photos and giveaways with the Oviedo Fire Department, Oviedo Police Department and Oviedo Public Works. Talk to our experts about water conservation, the environment and so much more! We will be providing free coffee and donuts while you wait to pick up your trees.
Please note, there is a TWO (2) tree limit per household and you must bring proof of residency through an ID. If you are unsure whether you are in the city limits, check your utility bill. If you are billed by the City of Oviedo, you are a resident in the city limits.
After you take your tree home, read the instructions on planting and do not plant your tree in an easement. When you plant a tree in the easement, the roots can spread deep and wide. Those roots can infiltrate the public stormwater system. While the ground above appears to be normal root growth, the roots can push into fences; beneath the surface, the story is different. The roots (in this case) have completely infiltrated the stormwater drain, which is a very costly and time-consuming repair. The picture(s) show one of our stormwater drains blocked by root growth. This damage can cause blockages and backups, leading to street flooding. If you refer to your property survey to see where your property easements are. Let’s keep our roadways and property safe from flooding!
