Englanninkielisillä kierroksilla tutustutaan Kauppakortteli Pekurin toisessa kerroksessa sijaitsevaan laajaan näyttelyyn tiistaina 10.3. ja keskiviikkona 11.3.

Kuraattorikierroksille mahtuu mukaan noin 30 osallistujaa, ei ennakkoilmoittautumisia. Kierroksen kesto on noin 30 minuuttia. Näyttely sulkeutuu klo 19. 

Kierros sisältyy näyttelyn pääsylipun hintaan: Liput 17 €. Eläkeläiset, työttömät, opiskelijat, S-etukortilla, OP:n omistaja-asiakkaille ja Kalevan tilaajille 12 €. Alle 18-vuotiaat maksutta aikuisen seurassa.

PLAY esittelee 17 kansainvälisen taiteilijan monialaisen linssin kautta leikkiä sekä ilon aiheena että häiriötekijänä tuoden esiin riemun, sitkeyden, kapinan ja yhteyden hetkiä. Yhdessä teokset muodostavat visuaalisen matkan leikkiin syvästi inhimillisenä ilmaisumuotona ja sanattomana kielenä. Näyttelyn kuraattori Jorven Viilik työskentelee Fotografiska Tallinnan Brand Directorina.

”PLAY pyrkii palauttamaan meidät suunnittelemattoman leikin pariin ja avaamaan tilan, jossa katsojat voivat tutkia, onko leikki säilynyt heidän elämässään tai millaisena se on säilynyt. Se rohkaisee kävijöitä kuvittelemaan, miten leikki voi palata osaksi elämää odottamattomilla tavoilla”, kuvailee Viilik.

Laajassa näyttelyssä on yli 200 vedostettua teosta ja videoinstallaatio. Teokset ovat eri aikakausilta ja eri vaiheista taiteilijoiden uria.

Curator's tours at the PLAY exhibition

Fotografiska Tallinn’s PLAY exhibition will host curator-led tours on Tuesday, March 10 and Wednesday, March 11. In these English-language tours, visitors will be guided through the exhibition at shopping centre Pekuri (on the second floor) by curator Jorven Viilik.

CURATOR'S TOURS
Tuesday, March 10 at 18:00
Wednesday, March 11 at 16:00

Duration: about 30 minutes. The exhibition closes at 19:00 on both days. The tour is included in the exhibition ticket price. General admission: €17. Pensioners, unemployed, students, S-card holders, OP owner-customers and Kaleva subscribers: €12. Free for under-18 visitors accompanied by an adult.

Through a multidisciplinary lens of 17 international artists, the exhibition explores play as both a source of joy and a distraction, highlighting moments of joy, resilience, rebellion and connection. Together, the works form a visual journey into play as a deeply human form of expression and a non-verbal language.

The artists featured in the group exhibition are Martin Parr, Cristina de Middel, Susan Meiselas, Jouko Lehtola, Bruce Davidson, Roger Ballen, Nina Katchadourian, Sage Sohier, Trent Parke, Christopher Herwig, Karolina Wojtas, Niccolo Rastrelli, Joosep Kivimäe, Mathias Väärsi, Pelle Cass and Deanna Dikeman. Sound design for the exhibition has been composed by musician Erki Pärnoja.

The exhibition is open daily throughout the European Capital of Culture year.
