Bios

**Von Bieker plays indie-folk that haunts your heart with small stories and big questions. Mostly.** His thoughtful lyrics and emotional performances have gathered a growing fanbase seeking connection—be it on stage or on streaming platforms and radio airwaves across Canada and beyond. His recent album *DUMB HOPE* landed at #45 on *CKUA* radio’s Top 100 Albums of 2024 and was also selected by the *Edmonton Journal* as one of “The 10 Must-Listen Albums From Edmonton Artists in 2024.” The title track from *DUMB HOPE* broke 10,000 Spotify streams in its first two weeks and the album passed 50,000 Spotify streams by year-end. *DUMB HOPE* also reached #5 on CKUA Radio’s weekly top 30 and #6 on the national !Earshot Folk/Roots/Blues chart. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Von Bieker draws draws from a powerhouse of influences, from the guitar-driven groove of Bahamas to the spiritual depth of Bruce Cockburn—from the breaking-point passion of Glen Hansard to the quirky joy of the Talking Heads.

Accolades

Over the past two years, Von Bieker released his second full-length album (DUMB HOPE) to a capacity crowd at CKUA Edmonton's performance space, and sold over 100 tickets to the one year birthday party for the album. In 2025, he played multiple private showcases at Folk Alliance International and opened the New Moon Folk Club for a crowd of over 400. He is slated to play two Calgary folk clubs in March of 2026. Von Bieker, along with his band, have performed several high-profile shows in Edmonton including being selected for the 2024 Canadian Tourism conference, Rendez-vous Canada. We have played the main stage at The Fringe Festival and The Works Festival. We have toured Alberta and recently played an official showcase in the 2024 Manitoba Showcase in Brandon, Manitoba.

IMPORTANT ACCESSIBILITY INFO

We provide gender-neutral washrooms. We have one wheelchair accessible washroom. There is no wheelchair ramp. There is a set of 8 stairs to get into the building (7 steps, small landing, and then an 8th step). Once inside, the whole cafe floor is flat, with the exception of our small room to the side, which is a small step down.

We are licensed to provide alcohol, but serve a variety of non-alcoholic options.

This event takes place on the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People.
