- **Event Description**: Step back in time and discover all the museum has to offer! Kids will explore the museum inside and out, while tackling projects inspired by the day-to-day life of the Billings family. Each week they’ll explore different heritage chores, skills, and pastimes through fun, hands-on activities.  

Dates: July 8, 15, 22, 29 and August 6, 13, 20 and 27
Time: 10:30 am to noon
Ages: 5 to 7

Themes
The four weekly themes and their content repeat each month. 

• Botany (July 8 and August 6) 
One of the Billings family members is feeling unwell. Use Lamira’s remedies and ingredients from her garden to help get them back on their feet.  

• Bugs (July 15 and August 13)  
Follow in Braddish Billings II’s footsteps and learn how to identify the insects living around the museum grounds. Create a field journal, learn how pollination works and make a take-home craft. 

• Games and Toys (July 22 and August 20) 
Discover how children in the Billings family had fun! Try historic games and toys to see how play has changed and stayed the same through the years. 

• Butter (July 29 and August 27) 
Sabra and Sally Billings are away. Who will run the dairy without them? Step into their roles—find the lost cows, create a butter mould and make fresh butter. 


Notes
• The primary language of delivery for this program is English.
• This is a drop-off program. Parental participation is not required.
• Some activities take place outdoors. Please dress your child for weather conditions, including clothing and shoes you are comfortable with getting dirty. A hat, sunscreen, and bug spray are recommended.
• Please pack a small snack and a bottle of water for your child.
• This program is delivered rain or shine. In the event of poor weather conditions, activities may be adapted or moved inside. In the rare event that the session must be cancelled due to inclement weather, all registered participants will be contacted directly with further information.
• Some activities take place on the museum grounds which include grassy and uneven terrain. Accessible washrooms are available on the ground floor of the museum. If you have questions or concerns about accessibility, please contact 613-580-2088 or museums@ottawa.ca.
• Sessions with insufficient registration may be cancelled. If the session cannot be rescheduled, a refund will be issued.

Les enfants exploreront le musée à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur, tout en réalisant des projets inspirés de la vie quotidienne de la famille Billings. Chaque semaine, ils découvriront différentes tâches, habiletés et passe-temps patrimoniaux lors d’activités pratiques et amusantes.

Les quatre thèmes hebdomadaires et leur contenu se répètent chaque mois.

• Botanique (le 8 juillet et le 6 août)
L’un des membres de la famille Billings se sent mal. Utilisez les remèdes de Lamira et les ingrédients de son jardin pour l’aider à se remettre sur pied.  

• Insectes (le 15 juillet et le 13 août)  
Suivez les traces de Braddish Billings II et apprenez à identifier les insectes qui vivent sur le terrain du musée. Créez un journal de terrain, apprenez comment fonctionne la pollinisation et faites un bricolage à rapporter à la maison. 

• Jeux et jouets (le 22 juillet et le 20 août) 
Découvrez comment les enfants de la famille Billings s’amusaient! Découvrez des jeux et des jouets d’antan pour voir comment le jeu a évolué au fil du temps et ce qui n’a pas changé. 

• Beurre (le 29 juillet et le 27 août) 
Sabra et Sally Billings ne sont pas là. Qui va s’occuper de la laiterie en leur absence? Prenez la relève : retrouvez les vaches égarées, créez un moule à beurre et préparez du beurre frais.

Remarques
• Ce programme se déroulera principalement en anglais.
• Il s’agit d’un programme où les parents peuvent y déposer leurs enfants. La participation des parents n’est pas requise.
• Certaines activités se déroulent en plein air. Veillez à ce que votre enfant soit habillé en fonction des conditions météorologiques, et à prévoir des vêtements et des chaussures qu’il pourra salir. Il est recommandé de le munir d’un chapeau, de crème solaire et d’un insectifuge.
• Veuillez prévoir une collation et une bouteille d’eau pour votre enfant.
• Ce programme aura lieu beau temps, mauvais temps. En cas de mauvais temps, les activités peuvent être adaptées ou déplacées à l’intérieur. Dans la rare éventualité où la séance devrait être annulée en raison de conditions météorologiques défavorables, nous communiquerons directement avec tous les participants inscrits pour leur fournir de plus amples renseignements.
• Certaines activités se déroulent sur le domaine du musée, qui comprend des terrains gazonnés et accidentés. Des toilettes accessibles sont disponibles au rez‑de-chaussée du musée. Si vous avez des questions ou des préoccupations concernant l’accessibilité, veuillez communiquer avec nous par téléphone au 613‑580-2088 ou par courriel à l’adresse musees@ottawa.ca.
• Les séances pour lesquelles le nombre d’inscriptions est insuffisant pourraient être annulées. S’il est impossible de reprogrammer la séance, nous vous rembourserons les frais d’inscription.
