Solos Going Steady!

Solos Going Steady!

5 Ottawa solo artists performing short sets in support of the Ottawa Food Bank.

We know the winter months can be a strain on the Food Bank, especially after the Holiday Season when many people get back to their routines and charitable giving is not as much top of mind.

5 years ago we started this 'solo artist showcase' to highlight the need for charitable giving this time of year, while also bringing local singer-songwriters to Irene's stage.

We encourage cash donations at this event, but also will accept non-perishable items that we will deliver to the Food Bank.

Doors at 8:30pm (Set times TBD, but will add here closer to the event)

Patrick Shanks

This garage rock disciple is no stranger to raising funds for the Food Bank! The Shanker hosts a monthly 'Shanks at McCranks' local artist series that brings music fans into a tiny local bike shop to do pop-up folk/rock shows. Expect the usual garage rock fun and quirkiness from this legendary Ottawa troubadour.

Casey Comeau

Casey has been a folk singing fixture on the Ottawa scene for many years. Her musical output has been incredible from her days with Casey Comeau And The Halfmilers, to her recent contributions to Ottawa pop-party group Saint Clare. Casey turned in a stunning folk-gospel set at a recent Shanks At McCrank's Cycles showcase, so her performance at this years edition of Solos Going Steady is not to be missed!

Jon Hynes

Jon is a superb singer-songwriter who just released his wonderful LP 'Cardinal Giant'. His approach to songwriting has been cemented in storytelling from different perspective while striving for unique ways to create and manipulate his sound with edge and beauty. "Jon is a brilliant songsmith...who bridges the gap between Paul Westerberg and shimmering 70s pop." - Arboretum Festival

Elizabeth McDermott

Liz is a veteran of the Ottawa garage/punk scene as lead singer and songwriter for the critically acclaimed and locally beloved 'Banditas'. Her solo work is exactly where you'd expect the Banditas front woman to continue, fusing a sweet mix of garage, folk and punk, with always the right amount of grit.

Chris Page

Chris is a folk punk troubadour known for fronting bands Expanda Fuzz, Camp Radio, and The Stand GT.

He has also released four solo records under his own name which run the dial from wistful folk to explosive, stripped-down pop. From Germany to the U.S. to Australia, Chris has released records on labels the world over in the 25 years he’s been making music. His latest project is a re-working of his LP 'Decide To Stay And Swim' which you can follow on his site and on Bandcamp:
