We're super excited to launch TRAVELLING TRAUMA MUSEUM with Ren Iwamoto, our first chapbook project of the year.

We're also thrilled to feature four amazing and talented women of colour, put on by In/words' first all women team.

MUSICIAN: Samar El Faki
OPENER: Nádja Miko
FEATURED READER: Ren Iwamoto
LIVE PAINTER: Mackenzie Agard

SAMAR ( pronounced "summer") is a 21 year old singer and actress with a passion for music and social justice. She is a feminist and a mental health activist. Samar is currently in her second year of university studying a Bachelor of Arts degree. She hopes to become a social worker once she graduated from university and help marginalized individuals with mental health issues.
Samar is extremely excited to perform at the WOC Wednesday show. It has been a while since she has been on the stage, so she is so thankful to have this opportunity to perform at WOC Wednesday.
In her spare time, Samar likes to buy extensive amounts of hair products and eat Chinese food.
Want to hear more of Samar's music after the show? Search her up on YouTube by typing "Samar El Faki" in the YouTube search bar"

REN IWAMOTO is a creature from beyond the veil. Once ostracized for their otherness, they have since become it, and is now stronger and stranger than all their enemies. And you.

NADJA MIKO has a fasinaction with Intimacy, using her poetry to explore the dangers of sex and the mirage of love. She currently spends her time adding to her blog Red Panties or recording short episodes of her podcast Letters to Luna. In between she is studying gender studies and psychology at Carleton, hoping to continue her education with a master's in criminology.

MACKENZIE AGARD is a trinidadian-bajan canadian interested in writing/editing, law, philosophy and publishing. She is always looking at ways to join verbal or literary communication and visual art, which she had the opportunity to focus on over the summer while working at Carleton’s on-campus art gallery. Her artistic style is inspired by concepts of fauvism, art deco and pop art. Mackenzie lives with 3 roommates, an increasing amount of books she never has the time to read and one crazy, over-active imagination.

As always, there's an open mic after the performances, so bring your own stuff to share as well. You don't have to be a woman of colour to read at the open mic.
