-Mornings on CBC Music
Glowing with catchy pop hooks, Rachel Beck’s distinctive piano melodies and emotive vocals are captivating audiences across Canada. The PEI songbird’s first single, Reckless Heart, hit #1 on the CBC Music Top 20 in March 2018 after earning the most online votes for six weeks straight. Beck’s multi award-winning debut, produced by Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Fortunate Ones), lures the listener into an ethereal and enveloping soundscape, as the songs take one on a trek across a wide emotional range – from regret and grief to wonder and joy.
The winner of the “Live Performance” category of the 2018 Canadian Songwriting Competition, Kelsey Hayes is an Ottawa based adult-contemporary artist. Her soulful and introspective lyrics, catchy hooks, and onstage energy combine together for a unique live music experience. In 2018, she pulled off an Ottawa double playing both Bluesfest and Jazzfest, and spent a good chunk of the summer fine-tuning her musical skills (and Mandarin) in China.
The stunning vibrato, richness, and depth of Evangeline Gentle’s mighty voice is reminiscent of the vocal greats of soul and folk. Queer, and passionate about acceptance for all, Evangeline appraises the remarkable resilience of love and writes music with her findings. This 22-year-old, based in Peterborough, has already garnered the Emerging Artist Award at the 2015 Peterborough Folk Fest and Best Female Vocalist of the year at the 2015 Wire Awards. Her debut release, produced by Jim Bryson, is set for release in 2019.
