- **Event Description**: Please join local PETA supporters at the Embassy of Egypt to urge the Egyptian government to stop the abuse of camels and horses at the Great Pyramids! 

PETA Asia’s recent investigation reveals that horses and camels forced to give rides near the pyramids are dying in record numbers, with many severely emaciated and suffering from untreated wounds. Over the past six years, PETA has documented that starving horses and camels are punched, kicked, and whipped, and that they are forced to carry people in blistering heat without shade or adequate water, and then left for dead or sent to slaughter when they are too old, sick, or injured to be profitable.

Many of these gentle, social animals are sold and exploited for rides and photo ops at sites like the nearby pyramids at Saqqara. Handlers carry sticks and routinely hit and smack the animals, some until they're left with bloody wounds. Their legs are bound so that they can't move around freely. When they're no longer able to give rides or be used as photo props, they will likely end up back at the very same market to be sold for meat.

We have a required dress code! Please dress sharply in a PETA T-shirt, nice pants, and close-toed shoes. We must ensure that the focus remains on the animals without any distractions that could shift people’s attention. T-shirts will be available on-site for everyone.

All materials (such as posters and leaflets) will be provided. 

Please refrain from bringing dogs as there may not be shade or a safe place for them to lie down during the protest.

Outreach events are a fun and effective way to help animals as well as meet local advocates, so be sure to invite others!
