- **Event Description**: We’re celebrating the museum’s 50th anniversary (1976-2026) with an open house! Enjoy free admission all day on Sunday, September 20. As Ottawa’s very own living history museum, Cumberland Heritage Village Museum offers visitors an opportunity to step back in time to experience rural life in a recreated 1920s and 30s village. Explore heritage and true-to-era homes and workshops. Browse the General Store, swing by the Firehall, or peek inside Watson’s Garage. Chat with costumed visitors, meet farm animals and watch a skilled interpreter demonstrating their trade, handicraft or even a historic recipe. See vintage machinery and equipment still in operation today or catch a ride on a tractor-pulled wagon. 

Drop into the Community Hall (Loyal Orange Lodge) to see the new Memory Wall featuring photographs of the museum from the last five decades, including images from the museum’s archive and submissions from community members. The Memory Wall will be on display to the public from September 20, 2026 through 2028. Pour célébrer le 50e anniversaire du musée (1976-2026), nous organisons une journée portes ouvertes! L’entrée sera gratuite toute la journée du dimanche 20 septembre. Véritable musée d’histoire vivante d’Ottawa, le Musée-village du patrimoine de Cumberland permet aux visiteurs de remonter le temps et de découvrir la vie rurale dans un village reconstitué des années 1920 et 1930. Découvrez le patrimoine ainsi que des maisons et des ateliers fidèles à l’époque. Faites un tour au magasin général, passez à la caserne des pompiers ou jetez un coup d’œil à l’intérieur du garage Watson. Discutez avec des visiteurs en costume d’époque, rencontrez les animaux de la ferme et observez un interprète chevronné vous faire la démonstration de son métier, d’un savoir-faire artisanal ou même d’une recette historique. Découvrez des machines et des équipements d’époque qui fonctionnent encore aujourd’hui ou faites une promenade dans un chariot tiré par un tracteur. 

Passez à la salle communautaire (Loyal Orange Lodge) pour voir le nouveau mur de souvenirs sur lequel figurent des photos du musée prises au cours des cinquante dernières années, dont des images issues des archives du musée et des photos soumises par les membres de la communauté. Le mur de souvenirs sera exposé du 20 septembre 2026 jusqu’en 2028.
