# Event Details - **Event Name**: Make a Leather Belt - **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 28 May, 2026 at 02:00 pm – Thu, 28 May, 2026 at 05:00 pm (-04:00) - **Event Description**: Learn the quiet joy of working with leather while making your very own belt.About this EventIn this 3-hour workshop, participants will make a custom belt (1 1/2" in width) with natural vegetable tan leather. You will learn how to edge, burnish, and seal the edges to make a smooth belt. Make a belt loop with the excess leather to retain the belt on the left side of the buckle. Solid brass buckle and Chicago screws will be used to ensure it's a belt you will love wearing for a long time. By using Chicago screws you can change out the buckle in the future or shorten the belt.Unlike most leather, vegetable tan leather will develop a patina over time.It’s important to bring your own favourite belt to determine length, so you're not disappointed afterwards.Your instructor, Chris Gorman, spent his career in product design. Now he enjoys spending time in his shop designing and building things in leather. He enjoys selling innovative leather products at craft markets and doing commissioned work.NOTES:a) Workshops are transferable to another person and only refundable if we have people on the waiting list who can take your spot.
