It’s fun, easy to start, and a great way to meet people. No partner or experience needed.
Most people here are brand new and the goal isn’t to be good, just to enjoy yourself and feel comfortable on the floor.

WHAT HAPPENS THIS FRIDAY? ⏰
Door Open (7:00 PM)
Beginner West Coast Lesson (7:15 PM - 8:00 PM)
Beginner Lindy Hop Lesson (8:00–9:00 PM): We teach you the basics, assuming you’ve never done this before. No experience needed. You’ll switch partners during the lesson, it’s an easy, low-pressure way to connect with others.
Social Dancing (9:00–11:30 PM): Dance to DJed west coast swing and lindy hop music, practice what you learned, and meet new people.

PARKING ?️
Limited free parking passes (first come, first served).
The lot is monitored. Make sure to display the pass to avoid a ticket.
Otherwise: street parking or the pay kiosk.

WHAT TO WEAR ? ✅
No dress code come as you are.
Wear clean, comfortable indoor shoes with flat soles. No outside shoes permitted on the dance floor.
Bring a water bottle. Bottled drinks are also sold on site.

WHY TRY SWING DANCING? ?
Swing dancing comes from the joyful jazz music of the 1920s–40s. It’s upbeat, playful, social, and easy to start.
The Ottawa Swing Dance Society has been dancing and building community since 1999.

Try something new, meet friendly people, and have fun on the dance floor. We can’t wait to see you!

Cours débutant Lindy Hop (20 h – 21 h) On vous montre les bases. Aucune expérience nécessaire.Vous changerez de partenaire pendant le cours c’est un moyen simple et naturel de rencontrer du monde.
Danse sociale (21 h – 23 h 30) Dansez sur de la musique west coast swing et lindy hop animée par un DJ, pratiquez ce que vous avez appris et rencontrez de nouvelles personnes.

Aucun code vestimentaire. Venez comme vous êtes.
Portez des chaussures propres, confortables et plates, réservées à l’intérieur. (Pas de chaussures d’extérieur sur la piste.)
Apportez une bouteille d’eau. Des boissons sont aussi en vente sur place.

POURQUOI ESSAYER LE SWING? ?
Le swing vient de la musique jazz joyeuse des années 1920 à 1940. C’est une danse entraînante, ludique, sociale et facile à commencer. L’Ottawa Swing Dance Society danse et crée une communauté depuis 1999.

Essayez quelque chose de nouveau, rencontrez des gens sympathiques et amusez-vous sur la piste de danse.
