Congratulations! Now maybe you're wondering what to do with your new skill. In this class we will be taking our crocheted fabric and turning it into finished projects! Choose from an Amigurumi cat, a purse or bag, a bonnet or headcover, a drawstring bag, a beanie, fingerless gloves, or a small doll! All patterns are made using simple squares and rectangles to teach beginners how to measure and finish a project. Depending on the pattern you pick, you may also learn how to sew pieces of crocheted fabric together, how to make straps or ties, how to stuff a toy, or how to measure yourself to make a garment that fits. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events2/banners/cf72d8e0-3b0d-11f1-bd1f-f1e10f03be6f-rimg-w749-h740-dc908a7b-gmir.jpg

"description": "Hello crafters! My name is Emma and my pronouns are she/they!I teach the crochet classes at Flamingo Motif Boutique that are posted here on Eventbrite. You can also find me teaching or working the cash at the local yarn store (LYS), Wabi-Sabi, down the street. I have been crocheting for 6 years and love finding new things to make. I see crocheting as a puzzle to solve and the reward is something I made with my two hands, a hook, and a piece of string. I also completed my teaching degree at Queen’s University and love sharing the knowledge I have gained with others. My crochet classes are, first and foremost, a safe space of learning that is welcome to all as long as you have a genuine desire to try something new and will be welcoming and accepting of all others. I believe that coming together to share our knowledge is how we build strong communities.I would also like to acknowledge that our crochet classes take place on un-ceded Anishnabe Algonquin territory. The Anishnabe Algonquin people have cared for this land for a millennia and as a settler who is benefitting today from colonial violence I thank them for the care they put into our earth and our community. I recognize the injustices that they have endured in the past and to this day. I believe in land restitution (Land Back) and that the Indigenous peoples of Canada should have a vital role in decision-making and governance on all levels.Thank you for your interest in my classes!"
