Explore, learn and create with us!About this EventEvent Description:You are invited to join us on August 5th at 5:30pm for truly unique experience that incorporates a love of art, nature, and learning!Beginning at the Dominion Observatory and winding through the ornamental gardens, this guided tree walk will showcase several remarkable trees planted in the Central Experimental Farm. Participants will have the opportunity to observe and connect with the local landscape while learning about tree species and how to identify them.Following the walk, we will gather for an art workshop focused on drawing inspiration from nature. Using watercolour paints and natural materials collected during our walk, participants will create a mixed-media artwork that reflects the themes, textures, and experiences of the day. No prior artistic experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to explore the connection between art and the natural worldMeeting Location: Donimion ObservatoryTime: 5:30-7:30 PMFacilitatorsAileen Duncan is a Registered Professional Forester, a certified arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, a graduate of the Master of Forest Conservation program at the University of Toronto, and a certified tree seed collector. Her free time is spent in the garden, looking after fruit trees, vegetables, and native wildflowers, and volunteering for a tree-planting charity in Ottawa and Gatineau, Forêt Capitale Forest.Zahira Sarwar is an illustrator and artist who uses visual storytelling to celebrate diversity and spark conversations around social justice. Through bold and captivating illustrations, live art experiences, and community-based workshops, she creates spaces where people feel seen, heard, and empowered. Her work blends creativity with purpose — transforming art into a tool for dialogue, education, and meaningful change.In consideration for willingly participating in the Grounded Nature Walk Series Events, the participant/registrant and attendees agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Create Change Collective, their facilitators and volunteers from any and all liability for any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to any injury, loss or damage sustained during the event regardless of cause. The release of liability is intended to be as broad and inclusive as possible as permitted by Canadian law and that is any portion is held invalid, the remainder will continue in full force and effect.
