UHN analyzed their emergency room date and found that the top 100 patients without fixed address visited their ER 4,309 times in 1 year. So it does not take a lot of calculation to realize that while supportive housing cost money, it can save money elsewhere in the system. UHN secure capital funding for the creation of 90 Dunn Avenue in Toronto and operation funding collaborate with nonprofit Fred Victor to operate this supportive housing opened in October 2024.For some context, in the year prior to the opening of the Dunn House, its 51 residents spent 858 days in hospital beds. Following the opening of the house this number plummeted to 53 days spent at the hospital, that alone easily covers the "cost" of the housing and more.After the keynote, we will have a panel where Dr. Boozray joins* MP Yasir Naqvi* MPP Catherine McKenney* Councillor Ariel Troster* Moderator Joanne Chianelloto get more of the supportive housing we identified as the solution needed in our first workshop on January 15, 2025.This event will be in person and we are looking into options for live streaming and/or recording of the event, so we can sharing ideas and creating solutions.
