Along the way, we’ll enjoy beautiful river views, open green spaces, wooded areas, beaches, and peaceful walking paths within the city. Once we reach Andrew Haydon Park, we’ll take some time to enjoy the scenery before making our way back to Britannia Park.Our City Hiking Series is centered around exploring the green spaces that exist within the city the scenic pathways, waterfront routes, parks, and outdoor areas that are often overlooked in everyday life. So often, when we think about hiking or spending time outdoors, we assume we need to leave the city entirely. Through this series, we want to highlight that Ottawa is filled with walkable, nature-filled spaces that deserve to be explored and appreciated.This series is about slowing down, moving our bodies, reconnecting with community, and experiencing the city from a different perspective.Whether you’re coming solo, with a friend, or looking to meet new people, this hike is designed to be beginner-friendly, social, and accessible.Meeting Point:Britannia Park Long Gazebo (Trolley Station)Britannia Park ParkingOttawa, ON K2B 6E1Route Overview:Britannia Beach → Ottawa River Pathway → Andrew Haydon Park → Ottawa River Pathway → Britannia ParkEstimated Distance: Approximately 6 km round tripEstimated Duration: Approximately 2–2.5 hours at a relaxed social pace, including short stops and photos.What to Bring:• Comfortable walking shoes• Water• Weather-appropriate clothing• Sunscreen and sunglasses if needed• Bug spray, if needed• A small snack, if desiredThis is a beginner-friendly social hike open to all experience levels. Participants should be comfortable walking approximately 6 km at a relaxed pace.Please arrive 10–15 minutes early so we can check in and begin the hike on time.
