an evening of improvised music
David Broscoe has always had more of an affinity for sounds rather than notes as evidenced in his work in various avant-garage rock projects in earlier years through to more recent projects Rake, Rakestar, Doublespace and Generator. He continues to work on how to get more sounds and fewer notes out of his horns. Broscoe lent Stepien some Andrea Parkins records and this project is what happened.
David Jackson is a Canadian musician and sound artist working primarily with improvised analog and digitally processed guitar and field recordings. He has played in bands such as the Red Pony, North, Northern Sound Electrical System, and the Fucking Machines and solo as Spetter and under his own name. In 2012 he became creative co-director of IMOO.
An active member of the Ottawa music scene, Linsey Wellman is known as a creative and spontaneous improvisor. In addition to being a soloist on the alto and baritone saxophones, he is a member of art-punk ensemble Fet Nat, JUNO award winning calypso outfit Kobo Town, and the Craig Pedersen Quartet, all while taking part in countless improvised music and jazz ensembles.
He is co-founder of the Improvising Musicians of Ottawa/Outaouais (IMOO) concert series.
