- **Event Name**: Monarch Program and Tagging
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 20 Sep, 2025 at 09:00 am – Sat, 20 Sep, 2025 at 11:00 am
- **Event Description**: This hands-on program will explore monarch butterfly biology, focusing on their incredible migratory journey and lifecycle. Participants will learn how to identify, capture, and tag monarchs using insect nets.

MCCD staff will demonstrate the proper technique for safely tagging monarchs and sending them on their migration route. Tagging assists scientists in tracking migration patterns and identifying threats to the monarch population. This program will highlight the importance of planting native species to support the monarchs and other pollinators.

If you have an insect net you are welcome to bring it along. There will be a limited number of nets available for use. MCCD recommends close toed shoes, long pants, sunscreen, and a water bottle. We will meet in the classroom for a short program and then venture out in search of monarchs.

This is a free event for all ages. Registration is required.
