Tucked deep in the heart of native bush, Rhythms of Rest is an invitation to attune to the subtleties of you.

In a world that rushes, this is a space to slow. To let nature set the tempo. To soften into the currents of your own being and rediscover the rhythms that exist beyond the demands of modern life. Here, we allow the wisdom of the earth and body to guide us back to our most natural state.

Over one night and two spacious days in the foothills of the magnificent Tararua Forest Park, in the heart of a secluded valley, you will step into a space designed to hold you as you unfurl into rest.

Here, the trees, the flowing mountain river, and the eco-luxurious lodges become part of the experience, drawing you deeper in sync with nature’s steady rhythms.

Through a variety of embodied practices and somatic exploration, we will embrace the innate cycles that shape our existence: the ebbs and flows of our nervous system, the pulsing tides of breath and movement, and the grounded stillness that anchors us like the roots of a tree.

This weekend retreat provides you with the tools to continuously develop your relationship to soma (body) and Self. Gentle restoration practices such as yin yoga, yoga nidra, and mindful modalities remind us of our regulated state, whilst guided somatic movement and conscious curiosity feed our discovery of self-expression and new possibilities.

A morning fire is lit before you rise in the cosy communal area. Indulge your senses in a nourishing array of chef-prepared, plant-based meals each day. There is structure for you to gather for guided practices, as well as open space for you to roam the bush in silence or with one another.

Spend Matariki weekend bathing in serenity untouched by the modern world — slipping away from the mind’s conception of time and into the eternal rhythms of you.

✨Christina Hlong ✨
Christina’s journey with rest and rhythm has been a deeply personal one—shaped by cycles of overextension, burnout, health challenges and the revelations of wisdom that follow. As a somatic dance facilitator and yoga nidra guide, she’s come to honour the delicate balance between effort and ease.

Through her offerings, she lovingly nudges others into this same remembering: that true wellbeing is not a fixed destination, but a living, breathing relationship with the whole self—body, mind, and soul. Rooted in compassion and embodied experience, she weaves movement and deep rest into spaces of healing, self-inquiry, and self-love, with an invitation to meet oneself with tenderness and trust.


✨ Fiona Aspdin ✨

For Fiona, somatic exploration and restorative practice are pathways to freedom. They offer a way to reclaim agency over ourselves rather than being shaped and controlled by the demands and views of the outside world.

Fiona is a trauma-informed yoga facilitator whose work centres on restorative practices that support nervous system regulation and create the conditions for deep self-inquiry. Her facilitation invites a gentle slowing down, offering space to listen inward and return to oneself. She is also very passionate about somatic movement/ dance and creating spaces where individuals are able to move to deeper layers of self-expression and realisation.
