De band komt uit Tilburg en bestaat sinds 1999. In de afgelopen decennia speelde Up The Irons op talloze (inter)nationale podia, waaronder Graspop (25.000 bezoekers), Daarnaast tourde de band door Engeland, Duitsland, Frankrijk, België en Italië.

De connectie met Iron Maiden zelf is bijzonder sterk. Zo tourde Up The Irons met oud-zanger Paul Di’Anno, speelde Dennis Stratton (gitarist van het eerste album) meerdere shows mee, en bezocht Steve Harris een optreden in Eindhoven, waar hij backstage zijn complimenten gaf. Ook doet de band regelmatig mee aan de voetbalwedstrijden die Iron Maiden in verschillende landen organiseert.

Highway Star brengt de muziek van Deep Purple terug naar het podium zoals die bedoeld is: rauw, stevig en recht uit het hart. Met Hammond-orgel, Stratocasters en een flinke muur aan versterkers zetten ze een herkenbare seventies-sound neer zonder poespas. Nummers als ‘Smoke on the Water’, ‘Space Truckin’, ‘Woman from Tokyo’ en ‘Fireball’ komen voorbij, naast minder bekende tracks voor de liefhebbers. De band speelt strak, met zichtbaar plezier en oog voor detail – van sound tot uitstraling. Highway Star stond op festivals, in rockclubs en op kleinere podia en weet zich moeiteloos aan te passen aan de setting.
