Welcome into the world of Bobby Yu Shuk Pui!
In «Lykke til» we meet Ann (Played masterfully by Bobby herself) facing a financial crisis while living with her partner Dag in a dilapidated Oslo apartment. In the midst of winter, she discovers she is unexpectedly pregnant. As their relationship nears collapse, Ann is forced to confront her struggles not only with Dag but also with her girlfriend and her mother.

In «Whispers in the Belly» directed and performed by Yu Shuk Pui together with her family, Ling returns home from abroad and confronts the complexities of familial bonds. Silent dinners, bodily discomfort, and a first-ever family therapy session expose hidden undercurrents. «Whispers in the Belly» is an intimate letter to one’s lineage — a quiet murmur between feeling and language.
After the screening we meet the artist for a conversation and share Chinese food.
Two other work by Yu Shuk Pui; «Paradise» and He’s just a kid» will be screened in the foyer of Vega Scene. First shown at the solo exhibition «The Piles We Carry» in June 2025 at UKS by curator Miriam Wistreich.
Bobby Yu Shuk Pui is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Hong Kong and Oslo. Bobby’s practice is focused on building intimate relationships and collaborations, where physical, tangible and affective phenomena associated with body politics and the future are created by the media of video, text, installation, sculpture, and performance. Bobby received a BA from Hong Kong Baptist University and MFA at Oslo National Academy of Fine Art. She has awarded the Best Director at 17th Freshwave Film Festival in Hong Kong.

Velkommen inn i Bobby Yu Shuk Pui’s verden!
I «Lykke til» treffer vi Ann (spilles mesterlig av Bobby selv), som bor med sin partner Dag i en leilighet i Oslo. Midt i formaninger fra mor på telefonen, visum-problemer og i økonomisk krise finner hun ut at hun er gravid. Hun søker seg mot en restaurant som serverer autentisk kinesisk mat og må etter hvert tørre å møte sin egen situasjon.
En nydelig, visuelt stilsikker og også vill og humoristisk film!
I «Whispers in the Belly» iscenesetter Bobby Yu Shuk Pui en familieterapi sammen med sin egen familie i Hong Kong. Ling (spilt av Pui) returnerer fra utlandet og konfronterer komplekse familiemønstre. Stille middager, søskendynamikk og skjulte sykdommer – «Whispers in the Belly» er et intimt brev og et forsøk på å skape nye måter å være på i en familie.
Etter visningen treffer vi kunstneren til samtale og det blir kinesisk mat!
I tillegg viser Yu Shuk Pui de to verkene «Paradise Air» og «He’s just a Kid!» i foajeén på Vega Scene som relaterer til samme tematikk. Først vist på soloutstillingen «The Piles We Carry» i juni 2025 på UKS v/ kurator Miriam Wistreich.
Bobby Yu Shuk Pui er billedkunstner og filmskaper basert i Hong Kong og Oslo. Bobbys praksis fokuserer på å bygge intime relasjoner og samarbeidder fenomener knyttet til kroppspolitikk og fremtiden skapes gjennom video, tekst, installasjon, skulptur og performance. Hun har en baceholgrad fra Hong Kong Babtist University og en mastergrad fra Kunstakademiet i Oslo. Hun vant pris for beste regi på den 17. Freshwave Film Festival i Hong Kong.
