The band returned with a new album in 2024 after a long break, and the sound kicks off where they left off.

Formed in the first wave of British post-rock alongside the likes of Mogwai in the late 90s, John Peel favourites Billy Mahonie are set to return with the first new music from their original line-up in some twenty-four years. Whilst their debut album ‘The Big Dig’, released in 1999 on Too Pure Records, is considered a classic of the post rock genre, Billy Mahonie always crafted their intricate music with memorable hooks and melodies and performed it with energy and gusto. Theirs was not an aimless, meandering sound, instead the songs and attitude were rooted in punk rock, and still are. Billy Mahonie put the rock into post-rock.

‘Field Of Heads’ released in 2024 saw the band returning with their classic original line-up of Gavin Baker (guitar), Howard Monk (drums), Hywell Dinsdale (bass and guitar) and Kevin Penney (bass and guitar).


SUPPORT: Sightseers

Sightseers er et norsk/engelsk prosjekt.  Med suggererende og fengende hooks over dundrende basslinjer og halsbrekkende trommer beveger Sightseers seg i et landskap av new wave, krautrock og post-rock. Sølvskingrende telecaster-riff kutter deg i to.  Vokalen forteller historier om alt fra bankran og åpenbarende skogsturer til etegilder og forsmådde forfattere som får sin hevn, mens bass og trommer fortsetter sitt endeløse svette kappløp mot senteret av en orkan.

Medlemmer: Vegard Eggum (As The Tired Trains Cross Europe, Meadows & io) – gitar/vokal,  Gavin Baker (Billy Mahonie, Radio 9) – bass Christian Børke (Meadows & io, Kryptonics) - trommer/kor. 

Sightseers gav ut debutalbumet deres i 2022 på Big Pink Records, våren 2026 skal oppfølgeren spilles inn med Christian Engfelt bak spakene i Studio Paradiso i Oslo.
