Riders can choose their preferred distance: ๐ŸŒพ 18-mile round trip to Rantoul ๐Ÿšฒ 40-mile round trip to Legacy Square in Ottawa ๐ŸšŒ 45-mile option for experienced riders, traveling from Garnett to Ottawa on the Prairie Spirit Trail before returning to Osawatomie The 18- and 40-mile rides leave Mile Zero with a mass start at 9:00 AM. Riders can enjoy support along the route, including water, sports drinks, snacks, bike maintenance, first aid, and portable restrooms. The 45-mile option begins with an 8:00 AM shuttle from Mile Zero to Garnett for riders and their bikes. Shuttle space is limited to the first 20 participants. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Free Family & Kids' Ride โ€” 10:00 AM Bring the whole family for a free, 4-mile bike ride! No registration is required. Riders will leave Mile Zero at 10:00 AM, travel to John Brown Highway and return, with treats along the route approximately every mile. ๐Ÿค  Redneck Olympics โ€” 11:00 AMโ€“2:00 PM Stick around for the Redneck Olympics, a community event designed to get more local residents involved in the day's festivities. Teams will compete in a variety of crazy, fun-filled events on the nearby ball fields. Event details and team activities will be announced as plans are finalized. ๐Ÿ– BBQ & Registration Registered bike riders will receive a long-sleeved orange dry-fit event T-shirt featuring an angry John Brown wielding a turkey leg and BBQ tongs, as well as a BBQ meal from Bull Creek BBQ following the ride. Additional food will be available for purchase from the Bull Creek BBQ food truck at Mile Zero. Bike ride registration is $50 through September 30 and increases to $60 beginning October 1 through event day. ๐Ÿ‘ Good to Know All ages and experience levels are welcome. E-bikes, recumbents, trikes, and child trailers are welcome. Riders under 16 must have a responsible adult present. October is a beautiful time to enjoy the tree-lined Flint Hills Trail, and this event offers something for cyclists, families, and the entire community. A portion of race registration proceeds will benefit the John Brown Foundation in support of its efforts to achieve National Historic Park status for our infamous historical landmarks across the community. Race-only registration is $25 and is available through event organizers, at Osawatomie City Hall, or at the Osawatomie Public Library.
