I Have Cancer
When a colleague was diagnosed with cancer, a small group of employees were the first to hear his bad news. They were eating lunch when he stepped away to take a phone call. When he returned, he said, "I have cancer."

It is tough to wrap your head around such news. It would be difficult to hear that someone you love – your spouse, child, friend – has cancer.

Make a Difference
The employees of Alexandria Industries support the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life to help find a cure for cancer. Through various fundraisers over the years, they have donated nearly $750,000 to support cancer research, and education on early detection and prevention.

Fishing for the Cure

In 2006, a small team of employees whose loved-ones lost their battle with cancer, created a fun, family friendly ice fishing tournament to raise money for the American Cancer Society (ACS). The first “Fishing for the Cure” tournament hosted 112 contestants, netted $620, and donated all the money to the ACS's Relay For Life.

As the years pass by, the tournament grew, bringing together people from across Minnesota, and beyond, to fish for the cure. In 2022, the tournament had 1,358 fishing contestants, including 256 kids 12 years of age and younger.

The Alexandria Industries Fishing For The Cure tournament has been recognized as the largest Relay For Life fundraising event in the State of MN.

It Takes a Village to Fish
The ice fishing event's success comes from the support of a growing list of individuals, customers, community, and business partners. Year after year, more than 100 sponsors donate prizes and in-kind services to help find a cure for cancer.

Fishing for the Cure is a great way to enjoy a cold winter day creating warm memories with families and friends.
