Bookbinding Workshop: Old Book Refresh with Anastasia Weigle

Wednesday, August 6, 4PM-8PM, BOOKBINDING WORKSHOP: OLD BOOK REFRESH with Dr. ANASTASIA WEIGLE (Associate Prof. of Library Science, UMA). You will bring a treasured book from home and repair the spine, end papers detachment, and damaged text pages. We will not re-sew, re-glue the entirety of the bindings but rather refresh it. Students will be introduced to restoration materials as well as the how's of more involved restorations. Depending on interest a follow up class will be offered which will focus on rebinding a book; repair boards, spine fabric, and re-glue interior board papers (the latter we will also do in this first class).
