The Monocle
‘The Monocle’, the highly-acclaimed, stylish contemporary dance and music production created by award-winning choreographer Mathieu Geffré, founder and Artistic Director of Rendez-Vous Dance.
Welcome to ‘The Monocle’…where nothing is impossible…This dance production reveals and celebrates the long-forgotten pioneering history of Le Monocle, the legendary 1930s Paris nightclub where glamorous lesbians dined, danced, sang and socialised without fear of persecution within its plush, secret walls.
Featuring a smouldering, versatile cast of seven – including the celebrated early jazz singer and band leader Imogen Banks – this compelling work of dance, music and song will come to The Arts Centre on Tuesday 17 February 2026.
Step inside The Monocle, a dazzling LGBTQ+ celebration where secrets shimmer, jazz ignites, and 1930s Parisian freedom comes alive through dance.
Age guidance: 13+
Audience warning: Flashing light, haze, partial nudity (a dancer’s breast is being shown at some point during the performance.)
