Tomoka Midden Complex Eco-buggy

The Volusia County Explore Volusia program and Tomoka State Park invite you to join Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann and Park Services Specialist Mark Adams for a journey back in time on Volusia County’s Explore Volusia eco-buggy as we explore the ancient Tomoka Midden Complex! Discover several midden sites—thousands of years old—and learn about the rich cultural history of the Timucuan people along the scenic Tomoka River. This guided tour through Tomoka State Park highlights the legacy of the tribe and the significance of the land they once called home.

** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program.

ACTIVITY: The tour will take place on a hay-ride style, covered trailer with benches. There will be some easy, short walks as well.

RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered.

TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.

AGES: All ages are welcome.

ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing for the outdoors

WHAT TO BRING: water, sunscreen, and bug spray

FACILITIES: There are bathroom facilities on site.

** You will need to pay the park entry fee at the main entrance and then proceed to the meeting location for the start of the tour. Enter through the main entrance at 2099 N. Beach St., Ormond Beach, FL 32174, past the ranger station. Here, you will pay the park entry fee. Afterward, return to Beach St., turn right to head north, and continue for 0.2 miles. Turn left before the bridge at the "Tomoka State Park South Picnic Area" sign and proceed to the picnic pavilion. This is where we will meet to sign waivers and board the eco-buggy.

** Following the successful completion of your registration, you should receive a confirmation email, and two days prior to the program you will receive a reminder email. These emails are sent automatically by Eventbrite. If you do not receive them, please contact Tommy at the email address above.
