For nearly 40 years, she has been working on projects all over the world to include Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Suriname to stop the poaching and the endangerment of native birds. 

She has authored multiple books to include her most recent, Birding For Life- How to Save Ourselves, Birds and the Planet. Her steadfast, passion for protecting biodiversity has put her life in danger several times as illustrated in her book Conservation in the Time of War.
