Annual Boxing Day Ceremony with Old Dominion Hunt

Join us for our Annual Boxing Day Ceremony with Old Dominion Hounds at Orlean Market & Pub doors open at 9am for breakfast, Shandy, Tea Sandwiches and drinks starting at 10:00am. We start with ODH ceremony as the hunters ride out, you can come inside and enjoy a meal and drinks. They will return and many will come to the pub to unwind for the day.


The Old Dominion Hounds Hunt, quartered in Orlean, Virginia, will move off from the grounds of The Orlean Market on Friday, December 26th, 2025 (the day after #Christmas, known as Boxing Day in Great Britain). Everyone is invited to watch the group move off. Traditional hunt party refreshments will be served to "the field" and guests.
The #OldDominionHunt kennels were established in 1924 and officially recognized in 1925. About 1934 or 1935, Colonel Albert Hinckley, an avid horseman and fox hunter, purchased the farm across from the Orlean Market; named it "Henchman's Lea"; brought the hounds to Orlean and became the Master of the Old Dominion Hunt. The kennels where the hounds are bred and cared for are located just north of the Village of Orlean on Leeds Manor Road.
