WHAT IS THE PORTAL?
In the 22nd century, a lone astronaut returning to Earth after a failed deep space mission finds an abandoned, quiet world. The cities, the buildings remain, but the entire planet is devoid of human life. Through the remaining computer networks, he reconstructs the story of Petra Devore and the fate of humanity.
Petra, a brilliant woman with latent psionic ability, investigates a mysterious Anomaly and discovers a vortex-phenomenon termed the “Portal,” which can serve as a transition to a higher dimensional realm.
She is assisted on this quest by her sister Larin, a talented musical prodigy, Jimmy, a local wounded war veteran with no short term memory, Wanda, with whom she shares a psychic connection across 18 light years of interstellar space, and the mysterious Thatcher, a representative from the "Ants," the lone independent nation on Earth, Antarctica.
Pursued by the ruthless Intercorp Protector, Sable, and his staff, will Petra and her rebel friends not only find the Portal, but catalyze a spiritual and psionic leap for humanity?
An authorized stage adaptation based on the 1986 groundbreaking videogame "Portal: A Dataspace Retrieval" by Rob Swigart.
An uplifting and exciting science fiction drama from long time Fringe artist, David Strauss, producer of such varied award-winning shows as "Shakespeare's Reservoir Dogs," "Annie Todd," and "An Audience of Amoebas."
