Join us for an engaging, hands on cooking experience that shows how everyday food choices can support better health for you and your family. In this interactive session, you will learn simple, practical ways to turn wholesome ingredients into meals and snacks that nourish the body and fit real life.

Together we will prepare and sample Rice Cooker Quinoa, Chickpeas and Greens, and Cocoa Nut Butter Energy Bites, with opportunities to build your own savory and sweet tastings along the way.

Beyond the recipes, you will walk away with useful tools and tips for shopping smart at the grocery store, reading nutrition labels with confidence, and learning how local policy and community action can help improve access to healthy food. We will also explore ways each of us can be part of the solution to reduce food insecurity and prevent diet related disease in our rural communities.

The session will be led by Maya Teso & Tracy Nunez, Masters of Public Health Students at UC Berkeley, whose focus is on Food, Nutrition, and Population Health and Public Health Policy. Their work supports healthier communities through education, partnership, and a commitment to equity and dignity for all.
