About the event

The Basics of Solar Observing
John Chapman-Smith, a lifelong amateur astronomer from the UK will present his stories about solar observing. From witnessing the 1973 Total Solar Eclipse at sea to filming society meetings for over two decades, John’s passion for astronomy has taken him around the world. A Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and former Solar Section Director for the Society for Popular Astronomy, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, especially in solar observation.
