Summary: What is seed stratification? Many seeds require time at
winter temperature and moisture levels in order to germinate. In this workshop, you will learn about the benefits of native plants, how your yard can help to improve water quality and how to stratify seeds using re-purposed gallon jugs, including successes and issues with this method. Then we will plant native seeds into milk jugs to create mini-greenhouses that will be stored outside throughout the winter. After spring germination, you can transplant them to larger pots or directly into the ground. It’s never too early to prepare for spring gardening … join us to get started!
NOTE: If you have them available, please bring two semitranslucent gallon jugs, such as a milk, water, or tea jug to the workshop. All other materials will be provided.
To attend, please RSVP to
