Join KRB, Sparkill Creek Watershed Alliance & St. Thomas Aquinas College for a rewarding day outdoors with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC's) Trees for Tribs program! The College's land is a centerpiece of the Sparkill Creek watershed and hosts a tributary that feeds the Creek's main trunk. Together, we’ll restore stream side habitats by planting trees and shrubs along our local tributaries (“tribs”), the small but mighty streams that feed New York’s larger rivers and lakes.
When you volunteer, you’ll be helping to:
Protect water quality – Slow runoff and keep our streams clean.
Reduce flooding risks – Strengthen natural defenses against rising waters.
Prevent erosion – Keep soil in place and safeguard fish habitats.
Support wildlife – Provide food, shade, and shelter for fish, birds, and countless other species.
Every tree planted strengthens our community’s climate resilience while creating healthier, more vibrant ecosystems.
No experience needed, just bring your energy, enthusiasm, and love for nature!
