The 2026 Patachich Summer Music Academy masterclasses are open to violinists, violists, cellists, and flutists of all levels (students and young professionals).

Dates: August 3–10, 2026
Location: Roman Catholic Episcopal Palace, Șirul Canonicilor 9, Oradea, Romania, and Pilgrim House

BIOS 

ARTUR KAGANOVSKIY
Born in 1986 in Moscow, Artur Kaganovskiy was discovered at the age of six and mentored by the world famous violinist Isaac Stern. It was his encouragement and help with which he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1993. He completed both his bachelor's and master's degree at The Juilliard School in New York. Among his teachers are violinists Pinchas Zukerman, Grigory Kalinovsky, Zakhar Bron, Joseph Silverstein, Ida Kavafian, Lewis Kaplan, Masao Kawasaki and Philip Setzer (Emerson Quartet) and Joey Corpus.
His career exploded in 2007 when he made his debut as the first prize winner of the Waldo de Mayo International Violin Competition followed by his solo debut at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium, conducted by David Gilbert with the New York Philharmonic. He gave countless concerts all over Europe, North and South America, China, as a soloist with orchestras such as Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Napa Valley Symphony from California, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra from Spain, Harbin National Philharmonic of China, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Belgrade or “Transilvania”. Philharmonic Orchestra from Cluj. As a soloist and chamber musician, he performed with such musicians as Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Shlomo Mintz, Joseph Silverstein, Rami Solomonow, and Michael Tree. He was also chosen as a member of the Grammy Committee.
His memorable performances include performances of works by James Newton Howard for violin and orchestra at the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, conducted by James Newton Howard.
In addition to his solo career, Artur Kaganovskiy also holds master classes in the United States America, Mexico, Turkey, Antwerp and Budapest. He is currently a professor at the "International Academy of Arts" in Antwerp and artistic director of the “Kaganovskiy Concert Series” in the Roman Catholic Episcopal Palace in Oradea, Romania. In addition to all this, he is also a master luthier and his instruments are being played by professional musicians from all over the world.  One of his favorite concert instrument is his Carlo Antonio Testore "Ex-V.Pikayzen" violin made in 1720.

ESZTER KAGANOVSKIY
Born in Odorheiu Secuiesc, Romania Eszter Kaganovskiy is the graduate of the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj ( 2004), where she studied viola with Sorin Gherbanovschi.  She earned her master's degree from Western Illinois University in the United States (2007) and her Performance Certificate from DePaul University in Chicago ( 2009) in Rami Solomonow’s class. Between 2007 and 2009, she was member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the training orchestra of the Chicago Symphony. Throughout her career, she worked with such conductors as Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitink, Seiji Ozawa, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sir Mark Elder, Cliff Colnot and Emil Simon. She was invited member of the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, the Bowdoin International Music Festival in New England, the Bach Academy Stuttgart, Bayreuth International Youth Music Festival, "Regina Viorii" festival in Chisinau and the "Night Serenades" Festival in Georgia.
As a chamber musician, she has performed with Ilya Kaler, Robert Levin, Viktor Tretyakov, Rami Solomonow, Liana Isakhadze and Anthony Newman among others. As a soloist, she has performed with New York's Spectrum Symphony orchestra, Orchestra Higieno Ruvalcaba from Guadalajara, Mexico, the Chisinau Chamber Orchestra from Moldova and the Orchestra Transilvania Philharmonic Orchestra from Cluj.
Throughout her career, she has performed in such concert halls as Chicago Symphony Center, Berlin Philharmonic Hall,or Carnegie Hall in New York. 
She is the co-founder of the “Kaganovskiy Concert Series” in the Roman Catholic Episcopal Palace in Oradea and also professor at the "International Academy of Arts" in Antwerp. 
Her concert instrument is a viola built by Artur Kaganovskiy in 2018.

SVIATOSLAV PEREPELYTSIA
Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine in 1992, Sviatoslav Perepelytsia began his musical studies at the age of five. By the age of seven, he had already appeared as a soloist with the Dnipro State Symphony Orchestra, marking an early start to his performing career.
In 2005, he continued his studies in Kyiv at the Mykola Lysenko Special Music School, where he studied under Olena Chervova. He later pursued higher education in Germany as a multiple recipient of the prestigious DAAD scholarship, studying at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. There, he worked with Gotthard Popp and subsequently with the internationally acclaimed cellist Pieter Wispelwey.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Perepelytsia performs regularly throughout Europe and has participated in masterclasses with distinguished cellists such as Denis Shapovalov, Alexander Buzlov, and Gregor Horsch.
Since 2018, he has been a cellist with the Târgu Mureș State Philharmonic. From 2025, he is a recurring guest artist of the “Kaganovskiy Music Evenings” concert series, held at the Roman Catholic Episcopal Palace in Oradea, Romania.

MELINDA BÉRES
is an award-winning violinist, concertmaster, and Associate Professor at the Gheorghe Dima National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. Recognized for both her artistic versatility and academic excellence, she was awarded the Music Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Arts in 2020 and has received top distinctions at major international competitions, including First Prize at the K. Flesch International Violin Competition.
As a soloist, she has collaborated with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and leading orchestras across Romania. Her extensive concert activity spans hundreds of performances throughout Europe, ranging from chamber music to symphonic repertoire, with regular appearances at international festivals such as the Early Music Festivals of Bucharest and Miercurea Ciuc.
A dedicated educator and mentor, she regularly gives masterclasses across Europe within the Erasmus program and serves as a jury member at international competitions. Her research focuses on 18th-century performance practice, with a particular emphasis on Mozart’s string quintets.
She has held concertmaster positions with the Ciuc Chamber Orchestra and the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra of Musicians from Outside Hungary.
Born in Târgu Mureș, she studied at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy under Victoria Nicolae.

ÁGNES-KLÁRA SÁNDOR
is a flutist and a member of the Târgu Mureș State Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2017, she has been an International Artist of the London-based Trevor James flute company.
She is a prizewinner of several national and international competitions. She was awarded Second Prize at the Jeunesses Musicales International Competition in Bucharest and First Prize at the Friedrich Kuhlau International Flute Competition in Uelzen. She is a two-time recipient of the DAAD scholarship, and her artistic work has been recognized with the Artisjus Prize.
As a chamber musician and soloist, she performs regularly across Europe, including appearances in Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Turkey.
She began her musical studies in Odorheiu Secuiesc under the guidance of her father, Kálmán Attila Sándor. She continued her studies at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music. She completed her higher education at the Detmold University of Music in the class of János Bálint. After receiving her degree, she pursued master’s and postgraduate studies in Düsseldorf under André Sebald, graduating with summa cum laude distinction.

MARIUS POPESCU
Born on September 24, 1962, in Oradea, he graduated in piano studies at the National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima” in 1986, in the class of professors Harald Enghiurliu and Nina Panieva.
Since then and up to the present, he has carried out a rich concert activity, both as a soloist and in chamber music, nationally and internationally, collaborating with prestigious names in the performing arts such as: Ștefan Ruha, István Kosztándi, Ana Oltean-Zehnder, Melinda Béres, Zoltán Rémán, and others.
Winner of several national and international competitions, and collaborator of festivals with wide artistic visibility, he has participated in numerous competitions and masterclasses in Italy (Rome, Palermo, Milan), the Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Sweden, Germany, and Hungary.
As a leading figure of the first instrumental theatre in Romania, he collaborated with composer Nicolae Brânduș and director Alex Tocilescu in national and international tours.
Currently, he is a PhD associate professor at the National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima”, in the department of wind and string accompaniment.
