Dinner included.$20/ person; $10/person for ULV CommunityULV students, faculty, staff & alumni reimbursed after attending.Speaker Bio:Council Member Karen Comstock is a retired law enforcement professional who served as the first female Chief of Police for the Chino Police Department. Before joining the Chino City Council, in 2020, Mayor Pro Tem Comstock had a 34-year career in law enforcement.After retiring in July 2019, Council Member Comstock continued to serve her community and ran for Chino City Council. She was elected to represent District 4 in December 2020, serving as Mayor Pro Tem from 2022 to 2024. Today, Council Member Comstock serves as the City's representative to the Chino Valley Fire District, as well as liaison to the Community Services, Parks & Recreation Commission. She is a part of the League of California Cities Board of Directors for the Inland Empire Division and serves on its Legislative Task Force and serves on the West End Mayor’s Roundtable’s Mental Health Collaborative Subcommittee. Additionally, she serves on the Legislative Policy Committee, Infrastructure/Streets Committee, Chino Public Financing Authority, the Chino Valley Unified School District Measure G Oversight Committee, and the Santa Ana Watershed Advisory Council.In addition to her service on the City Council, Council Member Comstock is a leader in the community having served as a member of the Soroptimist Club of the Chino Valley, Board member for the Community Health Service Alliance, Retired member of the California Police Chief’s Association, and a Board member of the Richard Gird Hall of Fame Committee. She has also received numerous community awards and accolades including the prestigious Spirit of Achievement Award for 2018.During her tenure as Chief, Council Member Comstock addressed various challenges faced by the Department. She implemented strategic and innovative initiatives in crime fighting, community outreach, technology, and training. Council Member Comstock expressed pride in the progress achieved in these areas during her four-year tenure and believed it was time to pass on the responsibility to the next generation of leaders.Council Member Comstock moved to the city of Chino as a child in the late 1970’s with her family. She attended Doris Dickson elementary, Ramona Junior High School and is an alumna of Don Antonio Lugo High School.
