A weekly class that will explore yoga and mindfulness through the lens of embodiment and sexual well-being.
Yoga is a sacred movement system that has in the past acknowledged the importance and significance of human sexuality (ex Tantra yoga) as a part of the human experience. Further, through movement, yoga can allow practitioners to maintain (or make gains in) physical health as well as be present in their bodies, with the intent to find comfort and even joy. (Self-esteem and relationship with your body is a part of sexuality, as is maintaining physical health). Mindfulness is a research-supported tool that can benefit a person across systems, including sexual well-being (through a variety of ways, including reduced anxiety and increased body satisfaction).
Each class will offer up a body scan mindfulness practice, asana to support physical health (and tailored to participants attending), and meditation. Infused in the class will be the greater intention of individual and community sexuality education, themed to support the meditation and asana practice. Follow up emails will include additional educational resources.
This is a virtual class via zoom (hybrid options are being considered for local individuals). Pay what you can, sliding scale, tier 1=$15, 2=$10, 3=$5 (recommended value $10; venmo @ignitewellbeing). Teens can attend with parents.
