Meet the panelists:

Batouly Camara —A 2021 Forbes 30 under 30 Honoree, UNITE 2030 Youth Delegate, TEDx speaker, 2020 Billie Jean King Humanitarian ESPY’s Honoree, International Speaker, Author, and Scholar-Athlete. Batouly Camara, a two-time alumna of UConn earned her undergraduate and Master's Degrees in Sport Management. Also, a former member of the UConn women's basketball team, and now playing professionally in Spain. Batouly has gone on to create these same opportunities for young girls around the world with her NGO, Women, and Kids Empowerment (W.A.K.E). WAKE is a nonprofit that educates, equips, and empowers young girls through sport, education, and social entrepreneurship works to step into their limitless potential! (Guinea-USA, IG/@toolyyy )

Liliana Anaya— A Colombian businesswoman who converted to Islam 19 years ago. She’s a loving mother to two boys and the proud wife of Shaykh Isa Garcia—the first translator of Quran in Spanish. (Colombia, IG/@estilodevidaketo)

Zainab Merchant —A journalist, author and entrepreneur. She is author of the books "To Be a Muslim" and "Princess Siyana's Pen", with a third title underway. Zainab is more commonly known by her blog name ZainabRights where she speaks about social justice issues, current affairs and God centric activism. She is in the final semester of her master's program at Harvard University in Journalism and International Security, as well as co-founder of the independent media outlet The Muslim Journalists. Masla Tahir—A Student, Social Entrepreneur, and founder of @myhijabmyright. A leader of various groups on campus. She plans on practicing law to fight for the voiceless, and fiercely advocate for social justice issues. (Canada, IG/@maslatahir)

Fatima Al-Sayed—As a journalist In the West, Fatima Al-Sayed aims to bring more awareness about her community through storytelling. She is currently working as a freelancer and hosting both the uMentor Talk Show and Community Voice Talk Show. Fatima has also founded The Muslim Journalists with fellow journalist Zainab Merchant where their mission is to shed light on the issues within our Muslim community that are often overlooked in mainstream media. Mnar Adley—The founder, CEO and editor in chief of MintPress News, and is also a regular speaker on responsible journalism, sexism, neoconservativism within the media and journalism start-ups. She's also the executive director and host of Behind The Headlines and the MintCast Podcast. She started her career as an independent multimedia journalist covering Midwest and national politics while focusing on civil liberties and social justice issues posting her reporting and exclusive interviews on her blog MintPress, which she later turned into the global news source it is today. In 2009, Adley also became the first American woman to wear the hijab to anchor/report the news in American media.

Nour Farhat—A lawyer in civil litigation and constitutional law in Montreal, Canada. Holder of a Master’s degree in criminal law, she has a strong interest for matters related to human rights, criminal and constitutional law. 

Farhat speaks regularly in the medias in order to comment on current legal developments, particularly criminal law and Canadian constitutional law. She has been involved for several years in the promotion and defense of fundamental human rights. 

She is currently involved in the legal proceedings challenging the secularism law of Quebec, known as Bill 21, the law that bans public sector workers in positions of authority -- including teachers, lawyers, police officers and judges -- from wearing religious symbols on the job. Fatima-Zohra Ait El Maâti—is a Brussels-based student and documentary filmmaker. Mostly active on feminist and anti racist issues through the Imazi.Reine collectives’ work, she co-organized the #HijabisFightBack campaign along “Belges Comme Vous” and “La Cinquieme Vague” on the 5th of July 2020. Afrah Al-Jabouri— was born and raised in Denmark. She has an office education and works both as a Muslim hijab model and actress and as a passenger assistant at Copenhagen Airport. Sahar Jaber—Was born and raised in Canada. She has completed double honors in Communications and Sociology and has studied several years of Islamic studies in Lebanon. She is the founder of Figs and Olives Publications, which focuses on publishing Islamic Children's literature to ensure that Muslim children are represented in English children's literature. Nahela Morales — A Muslim convert, Immigrant, Mexican-American, Humanitarian, Dai'yaa, award winning activist, international public speaker, and a single mother of one residing in Dallas, Texas. She has had the opportunity to speak and convey the message of Islam in countries like Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, and especially her native Mexico. She has represented a variety of oppressed demographics through her years as an activist and humanitarian. She is also the co-founder and Marketing Director of Embrace - A project of ICNA a movement dedicated to service, nourish, care and empower Revert Communities nationwide. Moreover, she was recently nominated for the 2020 Social Impact Award. Wini Griffin—Is an amazing mother of 3 who reverted to Islam in February 2020. She began wearing hijab and dressing modestly the month prior to reverting to Islam, while simultaneously transitioning out of her roles in the Christian church. Orenda Dadkhah—Resides in Texas with her husband, 4 children and her mother. She embraced Islam 26 yrs ago and has been active in learning and volunteering in her Muslim community. Allyson Gari—A graphic designer from Colombia who reverted to Islam 10 years ago. She fell in love with hijab since the very beginning. She tries to educate people that hijab is not an impediment to being an independent woman. Meet the moderators:

Shreen Mahmood —Shreen Mahmood, is a proud British Muslim, born in Birmingham, West Midlands. Previous posts have included NHS Marketing and Communications, Administrative Manager and Fundraising Executive. She is currently a Radio Presenter, World Hijab Day UK Ambassador, and Muslims Connect Founder. She organises events and workshops around pertinent issues such as women empowerment, confidence, mental health, family values, youth empowerment and much more. She has been invited to schools and youth groups as a motivational speaker, helping to raise aspirations. She is a keen traveller and also organises tours to Jerusalem. She has a passion for charity work. In Ramadan 2020, her projects for Yemen have raised just over £50000. She has travelled to Africa, Turkey, Pakistan to deliver aid with many charities. She has been awarded Peace Ambassador by Women's Federation for World Peace presented in the House of Commons, Best Community Initiative Finalist by British Muslim Awards and Unsung Heroine by SheAwards UK. Ashley Pearson-An American covert who moved from the small state of Arkansas in the US to the big city of Toronto, Canada. Ashley earned a bachelors degree in Print Journalism and a master’s degree in higher education at Arkansas Tech University. She has been an active ambassador before and after reverting to Islam in hopes to show the beauty of Islam and hijab. Through World Hijab Day she hopes to promote acceptance and unity among people all over the world.

She is also the founder of Hijabi Journalist Community, Indonesia.
