This camp is for all ages and developmental levels.
Club members will read books of their choosing at their own pace and complete mini-project based on the book, such as writing a poem, creating a tactile art piece, recording a video, etc... to earn points and prizes.
The Reading Club will meet virtually the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 5 pm to discuss their current books, present their most recent mini-projects, learn about how to use in-person and online features of a variety of library and literacy tools available to them, and may occasionally meet in-person or virtually for field trips or specific projects.
All campers will receive support to register for their local public library system, as well as any other libraries that they may be eligible for, including the Talking Book Program, BARD, Bookshare, NIMAC, etc. Campers will be provided links to download a variety of free reading tools and apps that will be used throughout book club.
Reading Club members may earn extra points for participating in local and regional reading programs, such as the Texas Bluebonnet Award or the San Antonio Public Library Summer Reading list. They may also earn points for producing accessible tactile books for children with complex needs. Club members who would like to produce materials for points should contact Christi at Y2ZpbGxoYXJ0IHwgc2FsaWd0aG91c2UgISBvcmc=
