We’re an independent publication that publishes essays, interviews, reviews, fiction, poetry, comics, and columns like Enough, Voices of Addiction, Funny Women, and more. The Rumpus also runs a monthly Book Club, Poetry Book Club, and two subscription series one for adults called Letters in the Mail and one for younger readers called Letters in the Mail for Kids, where we send letters from some of your favorite authors directly to readers via snail mail. His first chapbook, Black Sand, is recently out from Foundlings Press. He is a 2022-2023 Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Scholar.Michael Chang (they/them) is the author of several collections of poetry, including Boyfriend Perspective (Really Serious Literature, 2021), Almanac of Useless Talents (CLASH Books, 2022), &amp; Synthetic Jungle (Northwestern University Press, 2023). Tapped to edit Lambda Literary's Emerge anthology, their poems have been nominated for Best New Poets, Best of the Net, &amp; the Pushcart Prize. They were awarded the Poetry Project's prestigious Brannan Prize in 2021, &amp; serve as a poetry editor at the acclaimed journal Fence.Chen Chen’s second book, Your Emergency Contact Has Experienced an Emergency, is forthcoming from BOA Editions and Bloodaxe Books (UK) this September. His debut, When I Grow Up I Want to Be a List of Further Possibilities (BOA Editions, 2017), was longlisted for the National Book Award and won the Thom Gunn Award, among other honors. His work appears in many publications, including Poetry and three editions of The Best American Poetry. He has received two Pushcart Prizes and fellowships from Kundiman, the National Endowment for the Arts, and United States Artists. He teaches at Brandeis University and also serves on the poetry faculty for the low-residency MFA programs at New England College and Stonecoast.Brionne Janae is a poet and teaching artist living in Brooklyn. They are the author of Blessed are the Peacemakers (2021) which won the 2020 Cave Canem Northwestern University Press Poetry Prize, and After Jubilee (2017) published by Boat Press. Brionne is the recipient of the St. Botoloph Emerging Artist award, a Hedgebrook Alum and proud Cave Canem Fellow. Their poetry has been published in Ploughshares, The American Poetry Review, The Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day, The Sun Magazine, jubilat, and Waxwing among others. Brionne is the co-host of the podcast: The Slave is Gone alongside poet Jericho Brown and Rogue Scholar Aífe Murray. Off the page they go by Breezy.
