Alexander Florensky is a painter, graphic artist, illustrator, ceramist and collector. Born into a family of artists in Leningrad in 1960, he graduated from the Department of Ceramics of Leningrad Higher School of Art and Design named after V. I. Mukhina (now the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design).

He was one of the founders of the famous Mitki group of artists (1985-2005).

He has also been a member of the St Petersburg Union of Artists since 1988 and is the author of numerous art, cinematographic, animation, publishing and exhibition projects.

Together with Ivan Sotnikov, he co-founded the Painting and Drawing Society in 2004.

Florensky’s works are held in the collections of the Russian State Museum, the Hermitage (St Petersburg), the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Fine Art Museum (Moscow), as well as in many other museums both in Russia and abroad, including the Victoria &amp; Albert Museum (London).

He is the creator of illustrated ABCs of the cities of Jerusalem, St Petersburg, Voronezh, Kiev, Odessa, Tbilisi, New York and Moscow, as well as editions such as “Journey from Murmansk to Kirkenes” and “Travel in Tuscany”.

Florensky has illustrated a number of publications, including the Collected Works of Sergei Dovlatov.

Александр Флоренский — живописец, график, иллюстратор, керамист и коллекционер. Родился в Ленинграде в семье художников в 1960 году. Закончил отделение керамики Ленинградского Высшего художественно-промышленного училища им. В.И. Мухиной (ныне Санкт-Петербургская государственная художественно-промышленная академия имени А.Л. Штиглица).

В 1990-e годы стал одним из основателей известной группы художников ‘Митьки’ (1985-2005).

Член Санкт-Петербургского Союза с 1988 г.

Автор многочисленных художественных, кинематографических, анимационных, издательских и выставочных проектов.

Совместно с Иваном Сотниковым в 2004 создал Общество любителей живописи и рисования.

Работы А. Флоренского находятся в собраниях Государственного Русского музея и Эрмитажа (Санкт-Петербург), Государственной Третьяковской галереи и Государственного музея изобразительных искусств им А.С. Пушкина (Москва), а также многих других музеев России и за рубежом, включая the Victoria &amp; Albert Museum (Лондон).

Является создателем иллюстрированных Азбук городов Иерусалима, Санкт-Петербурга, Воронежа, Киева, Одессы, Тбилиси, Нью-Йорка, Москвы, а также авторских изданий: «Путешествие из Мурманска в Киркинес» и «Путешествие по Тоскане».

А. Флоренский иллюстрировал собрание сочинений Сергея Довлатова, а также ряд других изданий.
