**Online Class**
This class is for anyone. Musicians and dancers will get context for the steps and tunes, but all are welcome.
This series dissects elements of the tunes and the dances, and touches on their origins, the early Irish dance masters, some of the songs associated with the tunes, and then some! Whether you’re a practicing musician or dancer, or simply enjoy listening/watching, you’ll spend this 7 week session immersed in Irish dance and music history from the 13th century, to the Gaelic Revival and beyond through little known histories, amusing anecdotes, videos, recordings, and demonstrations.
The majority of each class will be informal, interactive demonstration/discussions. However, participants will also receive a video each week of the tune and step that will be featured the following week. This will give dancers and musicians an opportunity to learn and practice the piece, and non-dancers/musicians an opportunity to observe, so all will be familiar with the basis for each conversation. Learning the dance or tune will provide an added element of context, but is not necessary.
