Understand how Design Thinking methods enable good co-design and reflect on how you and your organisation can take similar approaches to design services and supports that make sense and matter most to the people and communities you work with and for.’

Led by Emily Whyte (Social Researcher and Creative Facilitator) and Fiona Robertson (Background in Youth Work and Family Learning) this session will:

-Explore and consider together how to apply different creative research methods (depending on context) and how this can rebalance power dynamics, and privilege children/young people’s voices.

-Reflect on the practical application of methods to your research question/your projects questions/aspirations.

The outcomes from this session will be:

-Increased knowledge of creative research methods

-Increased confidence in using/practical application of creative research methods with children and young people and in wider practice.

-Influences approach to research/information gathering in the future.

-Increased awareness of power dynamics when engaging with children and young people when gathering information.

-Improved awareness of opportunities for children and young people to be valued as equal collaborators with expertise (putting the “co” in co-design)

-Strengthened connection to the community of people trying to work with creative research methods → feel more connected in trying creative research methods.
